The initial guns still sucked, but at least they sucked on their own merits, not sucking on their own and compounding that suck with an aiming system that hates you. I used one which eliminated most of the cone-of-fire crap based on stance (that is, eliminated all the 'running degrades accuracy, not crouching degrades accuracy', yadda yadda friggin yadda) as it just compounded to make the early game even more obnoxious than Deus Ex as far as weapons went.
3788 has all the mods I ever bothered looking for, or you could dig up the old Stalker thread in GESC, I believe several useful links were posted there. I don't mean to suggest you haven't even tried to answer your own question, but Google for "Stalker weapon accuracy mod" might get you some good results.
